Reading
is a double-edged sword for me. It’s great when it’s a topic I have interest
in; otherwise it just feels forced and like a total buzzkill. I enjoy an odd
variety of books; romance, comics, manga, and dramas like “The Perks of Being a
Wallflower.” When I read that book, I could not put it down; in fact, it only
took me three days to finish. I felt happy, yet sad it was over so soon. Comic
books and manga are fairly different; comics have many well-known superheroes
like Superman, Batman, and The Flash. Manga are Japanese comics like Naruto,
Shaman King, Dragon Ball Z. As I read these comic books with an enthusiastic
grin on my face, wondering what will happen next as I flip from one
action-filled page to another, I get more and more eager to read the next. If I
have no interest in what I’m reading, I will either fall asleep or return it to
the library, wondering what I was thinking when I decided to check it out in
the first place. The book truly has to grasp my attention in order for me to
continue reading it.
I know what you mean, Savon. If the book is boring, forget about it!!! I have had books recommended to me from people whom I know love to read, but obviously their idea of a good book and mine are two completely different things! Unfortunately, I'm OCD enough to want to read a book from cover to cover. I have wasted a lot of time that way. Life is too short to get stuck reading a crummy book.
